Nammalvar’s speech opened Alageswari ‘s mind to understand the politics behind agriculture and the food industry in our country.

When Alageswari saw Nammalvar (father of organic farming movement in Tamilnadu) in a public meeting for the first time, she thought he might be some saint, It was his speech that opened her mind to understand the politics behind agriculture and the food industry in our country.

on the day of Nammalvar’s death Alageswari quit her salaried job impulsively. From then there was no turning back.

She got trained under the guidance of Nammalvar in organic farming. whenever she expressed her unhappiness about her accountancy job to him, he used to ask her to quit the job and join him. on the day of Nammalvar’s death she quit her salaried job impulsively. It was initially a struggle to establish herself without a regular income, but she gradually evolved to become a green activist, entrepreneur and a teacher of sustainable living.

Iyalvaagai, a movement for Environmental awareness was founded by Alageswari and her friends. she has helped many government schools in Uttukuli and coimbatore to set up their own organic garden where children grew their own food for their mid day meals.

Now She regularly organizes organic farmers market in Tirupur and Coimbatore.

In these Videos she talks about the May 2017  summer holiday children camp where she along with the children revived  an ancient water tank called Nandavanam (Garden in Tamil) Tank which was completely in a dilapidated state. she talks about the children gathering every weekend in the cuckoo community library run by her to learn different life skills that shows them ways to live a self sustainable life.
